Notice to All Our Patients

Derry Imaging along with the providers at Derry Medical and Londonderry Family Practice remain in agreement with the American Cancer Society’s mammography guidelines recommending routine annual screening mammograms and clinical breast examination for all women beginning at age 40.

The recent study suggesting guideline changes has created much confusion and conflicts with the ACS long standing position. The American Cancer Society sharply challenges these guidelines and unequivocally recommends annual mammograms beginning at 40.

Derry Imaging believes early detection and treatment significantly improves a patient’s chance for a successful recovery from breast cancer. We use the latest mammography technology available today - Digital Mammography.

Mammograms are proven to be the best technology for detecting breast cancer and digital mammograms have been proven to be 15 to 28 percent more effective at detecting breast tumors in women under 50 and women with dense breasts as compared to film images of the breast.

Susan Pisano a spokeswoman for America’s Health Insurance Plans, said insurance coverage isn’t likely to change because of the new advised guidelines and no changes are planned in Medicare either said Dori Salicido, spokeswoman for the Health and Human Services department
