Derry Medical Center and Londonderry Family Practice Award Medical Scholarship Recipients for 2011-2012 School Year

Derry -- Each year the independent family practitioners at Derry Medical Center and Londonderry Family Practice award three graduating high school seniors, who intend to pursue a career in the healing arts, a $1,000 medical scholarship.

This year's recipients for the 2011-2012 academic year are:

  • Julia Cone, a senior from Salem High School will be attending Springfield College as a Physician's Assistant Major.

  • Emily Davis, a senior from Pinkerton Academy will be attending the University of Pennsylvania as a Neuroscience Major.

  • Meredith Peabody, a senior from Londonderry High School who will attend the University of Rhode Island as a Pharmacy Major

"Julia, Emily and Meredith have shown an exemplary commitment to their eduction and community," said Dennis Rork, M.D. "It brings us great joy to present them with this scholarship as they embark upon a path toward a career in the healing arts."

In order to qualify for the scholarship, these outstanding students  ranked in the top 25 percent of their class and submitted an essay regarding their future plans in the medical field. The recipients will receive a one-time award of $1,000 to be used toward funding their educational goals.
